The base requirements were extracted from MediaWiki (Wikipedia's engine) and were adjusted to the portal philosophy, so we take advantage of portal features like page structures, user customization, security, layout managing, themes, portlet modes (view, edit and help) and content repository.
The EDIT mode of each portlet instance permits the configuration of some visual aspects and what page is showed by the portlet as a initial page, allowing the user to create a portal page with various wiki portlets, each showing a different information
