About Effo GPLed ProjectThe Effo GPLed Project is independent of the Effo Project. This project provides GPL Licensed Open Source software, such as add-ons for the Effo Project, Effo Memory Test utilities (effomem86 etc.), some specific drivers for Linux kernel, and so on. Please visit Effo Project (e.g., Google "Effo Project") to learn more.
As mentioned Effo GPLed is a framework, exactly it's a sub-framework of the Effo Framework. For example, effomem86 was developed upon this Effo GPLed framework.
Please see Effo GPLed License for the license details.

1. Effo GPLed Milestone (Latest v0.1b6)
File - gpled.tar.bz2
Notes - Download it and put it on a Linux, then use "tar jxvf" to decompress and unpack. See the Effo GPLed references for the detailed guide.
2. Effo GPLed Framework Samples (Latest v0.1b6)
File - gpled_framework.samples.tar.bz2
Notes - Download it and put it on a Linux, then use "tar jxvf" to decompress and unpack. See the Effo GPLed references for the detailed guide.
3. Effo Mem86, the Effo Memory Test utility (Demo only, Latest v0.1.4b6)
File - effomem86.tar.bz2
Notes - Download it and put it on a Linux, then use "tar jxvf" to decompress and unpack. See the Effo GPLed references for the detailed guide.
The Effo Mem86 (effomem86) could test system memory from Linux user space, and it supports both x86 (if x86 Linux installed) and x86_64 (if x86_64 Linux installed) or compatible platforms (e.g. Intel or AMD); it also supports multi-processor and/or multi-core processor by driving every CPU/core to perform the testing simultaneously.
See Effo Design - Memory Test from Linux User Space document to learn more about Effo Memory Test. See Effo GPLed References for other information.
4. Effo Design - Memory Test from Linux User Space (Latest Rev 0.5)
File - EffoDesign_MemTest.pdf
Notes - How to design a memory test utility which runs from Linux user space and it could be run on both x86 and x86_64 or compatible platforms.
5. Effo GPLed References (Latest Rev 0.9)
File - EffoGPLedRef.pdf
Notes - The reference document of the Effo GPLed Framework.

Stable Code BaselineSource code on SVN::trunk will be updated day-to-day, so if you need newest code, please get it from SVN::trunk, and maybe it cannot be compiled or has big bugs.
While stable code will be tagged onto SVN::tags from the SVN::trunk after testing.
When building up together with the code from other Effo member project(s) (e.g. Effo Core), you'd better refer to the Effo Code Baseline, so please read the baseline ID put on SVN::trunk/code_baseline.
Whenever a new developer join the project, we'll make a source branch for the new member on SVN::branches. The reviewed code will be commited onto the SVN::trunk.
For some special versions of the source code we'd also make the branches on SVN::branches.
Please pay attention to the Effo Code Baseline to make the life easy.

Help WantedLinux and Memory Experts:
The Effo GPLed project (a member project of the Effo Project) is planning to design and develop the Linux C/C++ API & utility which will be used to interpret a Linux memory address into a specific physical memory address (Where is the physical address? Such as on which IMC channel, which DIMM of the channel and which rank of the DIMM?). This will be a part of the Effo Mem86, the x86/x86_64 memory tester running from Linux user space.
So if you have well-experienced one or more of Linux memory, dual/triple-channel IMC, memory interleaving and address encode/decode, please consider to join us. The final works will be source open under GPL, just as the effomem86. No pay, no so many processor/IMC datasheets from vendor. This is an extreme challenge. If you are willing to be among the top experts of the latest technology of hi-end x86/x86_64 processors and Linux memory, join us now.
If you don't know what does multi-channel IMC or memory interleaving mean, please just ignore this wanted.
We finished the Intel Nehalem/5500x/Core i7 family related works already (about Oct 20, 2009) such as translating system address to NodeID/ChannelID/DIMM/Rank, or showing interleaved system addresses maps of a DIMM, and so on, based on Intel datasheets which you could download from Intel, e.g. http://download.intel.com/design/processor/datashts/320835.pdf : Intel Xeon Processor 5500 Series Datasheet, doc 321321/321322; Intel Core i7 Processor Extreme Edition and Intel Core i7 Processor Datasheet, doc 320834/320835.
We'll work on AMD latest platforms later.
